Mobile Home Removal in Fayette

An old mobile home, gone, close to home

Family land around Fayette often comes with a trailer on it. Somebody lived in it once, then it sat. By the time the land is being sold, a new home is going in or the registration bill finally gets somebody's attention, the floor is soft, the roof leaks and no mover will put it on the road.

So it comes apart where it sits. A machine demolishes the home, and everything is loaded onto trucks and hauled to a permitted site. The porch, the steps, the skirting and any room or carport added on go too, and sheds on the lot can leave on the same trip. Then the piers are picked up, the low spots are filled and the site is graded. Fayette County is our home county, and we are based in Berry.

Clear out what you want to keep before the day, because once the machine starts nothing is coming back out. If a new home is coming, the pad can be rebuilt on the same visit: see house pads in Fayette. The main mobile home removal page has the full list of what is covered, and the mobile home demolition cost guide explains what moves the price.

Fayette County details that matter

Title, registration and the county

The Alabama Department of Revenue says manufactured homes of model year 2000 and newer are titled in Alabama, and homes built in 1999 or earlier do not get an Alabama title. It also says registration is due October 1 each year and is delinquent after November 30, and that a home on land its owner also owns, and not rented out, is assessed for property tax with the land. Before the teardown, call the Fayette County office that sends your bill and ask what it needs to take the home off the books.

Gas, water and the septic tank

Inside Fayette, the city runs its own Gas Board and Water Board, so a home in town may be tied to city mains for both. Each utility disconnects its own service, and the power company pulls its own meter. Out in the county it may be a rural water system and a propane company that owns the tank. Make those calls early. Then show us where the septic tank and field lines run so loaded trucks stay off them.

City limits and state rules

If the home is inside the Fayette city limits, ask City Hall what it requires before a structure comes down. Anywhere else in the county, ask the county. ADEM says all debris from demolishing residential buildings is regulated solid waste, which is why it goes to a permitted landfill and is not burned on site. ADEM also says privately owned residential buildings of four or fewer units that remain residential property are exempt from its asbestos regulations, so ask ADEM how that applies to your home.

Questions

Fayette Mobile Home Removal Questions

Not seeing yours? Call or text (205) 535-6376 and ask.

What paperwork do I need before a mobile home is torn down in Fayette County?

Find the title if the home has one and the last registration or tax receipt. The Alabama Department of Revenue says homes of model year 2000 and newer are titled and older homes are not. Then call the Fayette County office that sends the bill and ask what it needs to remove the home from its records.

How much does mobile home removal cost in Fayette, AL?

It is priced after a look, and the estimate is free. Size is the start: a double-wide is twice the hauling of a single-wide. Additions, porches, sheds and whatever is left inside add loads, and a soft or narrow drive slows the trucks. Our cost guide covers each factor.

Can I burn or bury an old trailer on my land near Fayette?

No. ADEM treats debris from demolishing residential buildings as regulated solid waste, and the Alabama Forestry Commission says a permitted burn must not contain construction material. The home goes to a permitted landfill. Keep the receipts with your county paperwork as proof of where it went.

Can you build a pad for a new home after removing the old one in Fayette?

Yes. The old home comes out and the pad for the new one is cut, filled and packed before the machines leave. Tell us the size of the new home and where your installer wants it. Our guide to mobile home pad requirements covers what Alabama's rules ask of the site.
