Built where the plans put it
A pad is not just a flat spot. It has to sit where the plans say, at the elevation the plans say, big enough to work around, with the fall running away from the building in every direction that matters. Get that wrong and you find out about it when the footing crew shows up, or the first time it rains hard.
Cut, fill and compaction
Most pads are part cut and part fill. The cut side gets taken down to firm ground. The fill side gets built up in lifts and compacted as it goes — not dumped in one push and hoped over. Fill that wasn't compacted properly settles, and a settled pad under a slab is an expensive problem that shows up years later as a crack.
Spoil that comes off the cut gets spread, stacked, or hauled, whichever you want. It doesn't get left in a pile in the middle of your yard.
Pads for more than houses
Shop and barn pads, mobile home and manufactured home pads, equipment and laydown pads, shipping container pads, pole barn sites. Same work, different footprint. Mobile home sites are common out here and are usually quick — often the same trip as the driveway going in.

House Pads — questions we get asked
Can you do a pad for a mobile home?
Yes, and it's one of the more common jobs we get. Usually it's the pad, the drive in, and the drainage around it in one trip. Tell us the size of the home and whether the power and septic locations are already set.
Do you set the elevation, or does my builder?
Whoever you want. If you've got plans or a surveyor's stakes, we build to them. If you don't, we'll set it off the existing grade so water runs away from the building and the drive comes in at a workable slope — and we'll tell you what we did.
What do you do with the dirt that comes off?
Your call. Spread it somewhere it's useful, stack it where it's out of the way, or haul it off. Say which before we start and it saves everybody a second move.
