Mobile Home Removal in Northport, AL
A single-wide or double-wide that is past living in and past moving, torn down where it sits in Northport or out in north Tuscaloosa County, hauled to a permitted site and the ground left graded.

Old mobile homes taken off Northport lots
Around Northport an old mobile home usually sits in one of two places: on a small lot in town, with a neighbor close on each side, or out past the city on acreage up US-43 or toward Coker, at the end of a long drive. Either way the story is the same. The floor is soft, the roof leaks, nobody will move it, and it is sitting on the one flat, served spot where the next home ought to go.
We tear the home down where it sits with a machine, load it and haul it to a permitted site. The porch, the steps, the skirting and any lean-to or carport built onto the side go with it. Steel and aluminum are usually kept apart for scrap. The block piers are picked up, the ruts and low spots are filled and the site is graded to drain. Northport is on our side of the river, coming down from Fayette County.
If a new home is coming, the pad for it can be rebuilt or cut new on the same trip: see house pads in Northport. The full process is on our main mobile home removal page, and our guide on how to get rid of an old mobile home in Alabama goes step by step.

Tuscaloosa County paperwork and Northport rules
Two county offices, depending on the home
Tuscaloosa County splits mobile homes between two offices. The county says a home set up on land owned by the home's owner may be assessed as real property through the Tax Assessor's Office. A home in a different name than the land, or one rented to a tenant, is registered through the License Commission, and those registrations renew between October 1 and November 30. Call whichever office carries your home before the teardown and ask what they need to take it off their records.
Tight town lots and long county drives
On a Northport town lot the question is room: space for the machine to work, space for trucks to load without crossing the neighbor's yard, and what is overhead. Out in the county it is the drive: a gate, a bridge, low limbs and whether loaded trucks can get back out. Send photos of the home and the way in. Tracked machines spread their weight, so soft ground and finished yards take less damage.
City permits and state rules
Inside the city, ask the Northport Planning and Inspections Department what a demolition at your address requires, and remember the city's reach can extend a little past its limits. ADEM says all debris from demolishing residential buildings is regulated solid waste, so it goes to a permitted landfill. It also says privately owned residential buildings of four or fewer units that remain residential property are exempt from its asbestos regulations. Ask ADEM how that applies to your home.

Northport Mobile Home Removal Questions
Not seeing yours? Call or text (205) 535-6376 and ask.
Which office do I call before tearing down a mobile home in Northport?
For the records, it depends how the home is carried. Tuscaloosa County says homes on land the owner also owns may be assessed through the Tax Assessor's Office, and homes in a different name than the land, or rented out, are registered through the License Commission. For permits inside the city, call Northport Planning and Inspections.
How much does mobile home removal cost in Northport, AL?
It is priced after a look, and the estimate is free. Size is the start: a double-wide is twice the hauling of a single-wide. Additions, porches and sheds add loads, and a tight lot or a long drive slows the trucks. Our cost guide covers each factor without guessing at your property.
Can you remove a mobile home from a tight lot in Northport?
Often, yes. What decides it is room for the machine to work and for trucks to load and get out without crossing the neighbor's yard. Send photos of the home, the drive and both sides of the lot, or let us come look, and we will tell you.
Do I need a title to demolish a mobile home in Tuscaloosa County?
Ask the county before the job. The Alabama Department of Revenue says 2000 and newer manufactured homes are titled and 1999 and older models are exempt from an Alabama title, so your home may or may not have one. If you have a title, keep it, because the county may want it.
