Lanes and trails

A shooting lane wants to be cut to the width and the direction that actually works from the stand — not just a straight line off the nearest road. Trails want to be wide enough for a four-wheeler and a trailer, cut where the ground drains, and looped so you can get in and out of a stand without walking across the whole property.

Tell us where the stands are, or better, ride it with us. Twenty minutes on a four-wheeler saves cutting a lane in the wrong place.

Food plots

Plots get cleared, stumps handled if you're going to disc, and the ground left workable. Mulch left on a plot breaks down and feeds the soil, but if you're planting the same season it needs to be thin enough to work through — say when you intend to plant and we'll set it up accordingly.

Where you put a plot matters as much as how it's cleared: enough sun, somewhere that isn't a bog in November, and a way to get equipment to it.

Timing

The work wants doing in late winter through summer, not in October. Ground is drier, you're not pushing deer off the property right before the season, and a spring plot has time to come in. If you're calling in September, we'll still do it — just know it's the expensive way round.
