Tree Removal in Cullman, AL
Fence-row trees shading out a hay field, a dead oak by the pond, pines down after a storm: around Cullman we take them out by machine, pull the stumps and leave the ground smooth enough to cut.

Trees removed by machine on farm, home and lake property
Cullman takes its trees seriously. The city has been a Tree City USA community for more than three decades. Out past the city limits the view is more practical. A tree is fine until it shades the hay, falls on the fence, lifts the corner of a poultry house pad or dies standing beside the drive. Then it is a job, and usually there is more than one.
Our kind of tree service in Cullman is machine work from the ground: whole-tree removal. An excavator takes the tree down under control and lifts it out, and loaders carry off the trunks and limbs. A fence row full of hackberry and cedar comes out in a run instead of one tree at a time. Stumps are pulled with the root ball, the holes are filled and packed and the ground is graded so a mower or a hay cutter can cross it.
Cullman County is inside our service area and we take jobs here. The work fits pasture and field edges, home sites, long drives and the steep lots on the Smith Lake side. You choose whether the wood is burned where allowed or hauled, and you can ask about the wood when we look at the job. Read more on the main tree removal page, and see our other local work on the Cullman land clearing page.

Cullman trees: storm history, city trees and the lake side
April 27, 2011
People here remember the date. An EF-4 tornado came through downtown and an east-side residential area and destroyed many buildings. Storms like that leave trees down across a whole neighborhood at once. Wind events since have been smaller, but one leaning oak over a drive is still a problem that needs a machine. How we handle downed and hung-up trees is on the storm damage tree cleanup page.
City trees and city limits
Tree City USA status means a town keeps a tree board or department and a tree care ordinance. So inside the city, a tree near the street may be the city's and not yours. Ask the City of Cullman before removing one along a street or sidewalk. The city's Building Inspection Department handles building permits inside the city limits, and it is the office to ask if you are clearing a lot to build. Out in the county, the question is mostly about burning.
Plateau fields and Smith Lake slopes
Most of the county is gentle plateau farm ground, and trees there come out easily with room for the machines. The west edge is different. Lots along Lewis Smith Lake are steep and wooded, and Alabama Power says work in its flood easement could require a permit. Ask its Shoreline Management office before clearing near the water. On a slope we keep the bank covered and take only what has to go.

What does tree removal cost in Cullman, AL?
We price it after seeing the trees, at no charge. The number of trees, their size, the access for a machine, whether stumps are pulled and what happens to the wood all change it. A fence row or a group of trees usually costs less per tree than one tree alone, because moving the machines is the same either way.
Can you clear a fence row of trees in Cullman County?
Yes. An excavator takes fence-row trees out in a run, and the mulcher handles the saplings and brush between them. Tell us about old wire in the row so the operator can work around it, and show us the line. We clear to the line you show us.
Can I remove a tree by the street in the City of Cullman?
Ask the city first. Cullman is a Tree City USA community, which means it keeps a tree care ordinance, and a tree along a street or sidewalk may belong to the city. Call City Hall with the address. For trees well inside your own lot, call or text us with photos.
Do you remove trees on steep Smith Lake lots near Cullman?
Yes. Tracked machines work steep lake lots, and the excavator can reach trees from a stable spot. Ask Alabama Power's shoreline office what is allowed near the water before anything is cut. Many owners open a view and a building spot and leave the rest of the bank covered so it does not wash.
