Tree Removal in Northport, AL
Trees that are dead, leaning, crowding a building site or down after a storm, taken out around Northport with an excavator and loaders. The stump comes out with the tree if you want it gone.

Trees down, stumps out, ground put back
North of the river the trees get bigger and the lots get wider. That is good until one dies, leans or lands on something. Then you have a pine with no needles standing over the fence, or a red oak tipped toward the barn, or a whole edge of the yard that has grown up into a tree line you never asked for. Northport has all three, in town and out toward Samantha and Coker.
As a tree service for Northport, we take trees down and out with machines, working from the ground. The excavator has the reach and the weight to bring a tree down where we want it and lift it away. Loaders move the trunks and the brush. Then the stump and root ball are pulled, the hole is filled and packed and the ground is graded back. What is left is ground, not a field of stumps.
It suits open yards, acreage, pasture edges, new house sites and lake lots, and it is a good fit when there are several trees to do at once. We take tree jobs in Northport and across the north side of Tuscaloosa County. Read more on the main tree removal page, or see everything we do locally on the Northport land clearing page.

What is different about Northport
The north bank and the hills behind it
Northport sits on the north bank of the Black Warrior River across from downtown Tuscaloosa, right at the fall line. Low ground runs along the river and the land climbs into hills as you go north. That matters for tree work. Bottom ground stays soft, and tracked machines spread their weight so they can work it without cutting ruts. On the hills, pulling a stump leaves a hole that has to be filled and packed properly, or the next hard rain starts a washout there.
City limits, police jurisdiction and old town
The City of Northport's Planning and Inspections Department handles the city's zoning and building rules, and a city's reach can go a little past its limits. If you are clearing trees to build, or the lot is in one of the older parts of town, call City Hall and ask whether anything applies before the trees come off. A lot being cleared for a house is covered on our lot clearing for new homes page.
Close to Lake Tuscaloosa
Lake Tuscaloosa lies north of town. It was made by damming the North River and finished in 1970, and it is the City of Tuscaloosa's water supply, not Northport's to regulate. For a lot on the lake, the City of Tuscaloosa's Lakes Division is the office to call about a tree removal permit, and it meets owners on site by appointment. Elsewhere in Tuscaloosa County, ask before you burn: the Alabama Forestry Commission issues burn permits, and our burn permit guide explains how.

Who removes large trees in Northport, AL?
We do, with an excavator and loaders working from the ground. That covers whole trees, tree lines, storm-downed trees and the stumps. It works wherever a machine can reach the tree and there is room to bring it down. Send photos or the address and we will tell you how we would go at it.
Can you take out a tree in a small back yard in Northport?
It comes down to access. If there is a gate or a gap wide enough for a tracked machine and room to lay the tree down, it can usually be done. Send photos of the tree, the way in and what is near it. Not sure about yours? A text with two photos gets you an answer, and it costs nothing to find out.
Do I need permission to cut trees on a lot in Northport?
Ask before you cut. In and close to the city, the Northport Planning and Inspections Department can tell you whether clearing for construction needs anything from the city. On a Lake Tuscaloosa lot, the City of Tuscaloosa's Lakes Division handles tree removal permits. We clear to the lines and limits you are given.
What do you do with the wood from trees removed in Northport?
It can be piled and burned on site where burning is allowed, or loaded and hauled off. Burning costs the least and hauling is the cleanest. You get a figure for each before the first tree comes down. If you burn firewood, ask about the wood when we look at the job.
